Day 83 8/6 9.5mi.
After waking and packing up we headed straight for a restaurant we heard served a great breakfast, which they did. I then called the forest service agent investigating the fire in Belden. He took down all of my information and asked a lot of questions about exactly where we had seen people and tents, I told him everything I could on the phone, he also emailed me a form to fill out as well as a map to mark where we had see human activity that morning which Chatterbox and I will fill out in the next town. And he asked us to pass his information on to any other hikers we talk to who left town that day. When I asked him about the fire he said the burn area will probably be in the tens of thousands of acres before it is all said and done, and the town of Belden as well as anyone else living in the area has been evacuated!
After all that we continued on our other errands, we made a trip to the grocery store, post office, and outfitters. Totem's family who gave us a ride into town was also nice enough to drive us back to the trail late this afternoon, which was awesome, thanks!
We hit the trail and kept moving along all evening below an awesome rock formation called Castle Crags and found a small flat spot right next to the trail for the night.
