Day 78 8/1 30mi.

We did our first 30 mile day today!! Woohoo

When we left camp this morning we started a 29 mile waterless stretch! I believe that is the longest stretch of the trip without water.

Luckily the terrain was fairly flat today, and we got an early start to avoid some of the heat, today was super hot even with the early start. About 16miles into the waterless stretch we came to a water cache that someone set up with about 15 gallons of water! The person who maintains the cache also built a fort type of thing to provde some shade. It was like finding heaven we both drank as much as we could, ate lunch, and moved on.

After 29 miles we arrived at a gross little creek where we happily filled up and drank sooty water. About a mile later we came to a lake and camped right near the shore.

We also got our first view of Mt. Shasta today, it's HUGE!
