Day 72 7/26 25mi.

We spent all morning descending down to the middle fork of the Feather river at 2900 feet. This is the lowest we've been in a very long time, it felt strange to be so low.

We found a 5 foot high rock to jump off of into a pool in the river and Chatterbox and I both went swimming for a bit. It felt great to cool off.

We climbed up 3100 feet and many miles away from the river and found the only flattish spot around to camp for the night.

I don't know that I ever explained what trail names are. Every thru-hiker (somebody who is hiking the whole trail in one shot) and many section hikers (someone who hikes the length of the trail in sections over the course of many years) get assigned trail names by fellow hikers, usually for something funny they have done or some quirk about themselves or their personality. So every name has some small story behind it. Because of trail names there are many hikers we know fairly well but have no idea what their real name is. It is just all part of the fun.
