Day 129 9/21 23.5mi.

There were plenty of big climbs today and we had little bits of ash falling on us again today. There was a lot of walking above tree line but the smoke spoiled the views.

Dr. Huss and I saw a pika today, they make little squeaking noises like a dog toy. We've also been seeing plenty of marmots, they're slightly different than the ones we saw in the Sierra's, the Marmots here whistle very loud we can usually here one whistling when we get up high.

Just before lunch we walked next to Deception Lake I saw a rock that looked like it might be good for jumping off of, I went over to investigate and sure enough the water was fairly deep next to it. So the three of us jumped in off the rock! It was frigid, Chatterbox said it was the coldest water she had ever been in.

Just before dark Dr. Huss and I walked up on a guy going southbound wearing a gas mask!! Haha he was worried about the smoke, we told him you can notice it but it wasn't to bad to hike in.

The day ended cowboy camping next to a small lake with the doctor.
