Day 16 5/31 15mi.

The day started with an 8-10 foot wide creek crossing, as Carly was trying to cross she took a step on a wet log and slipped her foot into the creek. She has to start the day with a wet foot, but luckily in the desert it dries quickly. The first mile or so in the morning was up a creek bed which had experienced a flood a couple years back and the trail still wasn't marked very well so it was a bit challenging finding our way.

We stopped next to another creek after 6 miles to have a snack and saw one other hiker doing a 500 mile section. He was the only other person we saw all day!

We went on to take another long break during the hottest part of the day and did our remaining mikes in the evening.

We took a break just before it got dark and as I went to pull out my trail mix the bag split open and sent trail mix flying everywhere! I saved what I could. Then for dinner I was making pasta with olive oil, salt, garlic, and parmesan cheese. I don't know what the deal was with this pasta, because it usually turns out fine, but the end product turned out super mushy and tasted kinda bitter. I felt like I was eating bitter garlic mashed potatoes,  it was terrible!  Anyway tkday was a bad food day for me.

  1. Mushy pasta does not sound as good as that burger or fish tacos you had the other day.
