Day 46 6/30 8 off trail miles
Last night we camped at the junction of the PCT and the bullfrog lake trail. This morning we woke up early and took the bullfrog lake trail up over Kearsarge pass at 11,700 feet and then back down to the onion valley trailhead and campground, all the way down at about 9000 feet. On the way down we past loads of hikers mostly out for the day and weekend, but we also met a few new thru-hikers. We had to take this side trail off the PCT in order to reach the nearest road where we could then get into town and resupply, this section of the PCT is pretty remote.
When we made it to the bottom we found an awesome suprise, Tom the guy who let's hikers stay in his RV's in Kennedy Meadows was camped at the bottom. There was a sign at the bottom for trail magic at campsite #13 so we went over there and I enjoyed a cold beer, we chatted for a bit then Tom drove Carly and I down into into the town of Independence where we picked up our resupply packages. He then drove us to the town over, which is a little larger town that has more hiker amenities as well as a few rooms available, all the motel rooms in Independence were booked up because its close to the fourth of july.
In town we met up with a fellow hiker doing all of California named Ithaca and went out for a huge lunch. We then found a motel room to split three ways.
We spent the rest of the day doing town chores and eating ice cream. We went out for dinner at a mexican restaurant and called it a night soon after.

Dan, first, thanks for keeping this blog, it is great reading! Second, I thought you were nuts to take this hike but after reading about your adventures, I know I was wrong and wish I had done something similar when I was younger! You are the MAN!
